The Town of Somerset has many living amenities and stunning geographical features. This rural community is bordered by the St Croix river to the west and is just 20 minutes from St. Paul MN. The Apple River which passes through town historically supported the logging industry and mills, but now is a big part of local recreation.
Somerset offers a variety of housing options and it is country living located in one of the fastest growing counties in Wisconsin. Rural apartments offer river access or farm field views. Lake-side, river-side, and prairie neighborhoods feature generous yards. Large farms with crops or cattle, are as common as hobby farms with llamas and horses.

Residents can make connections through the library, several local clubs, and organizations that focus on sports, history, crafts, and the garden cluboutdoors.   Youth groups provide opportunities for building friendships and skills.  Leagues and specialty groups bring people together for sharing tips while having a lot of fun.

The Senior Center provides meals, scheduled activities and tour events for older residents.  Church and educational groups always welcome new members and volunteers.  Grace Place and Faith House provide shelter and temporary housing to families and individuals including food, counseling, job search asisstance, and education.  Grace Place also runs the Food Pantry providing food in emergency situations.
Three school districts containing public and private schools serve students in the Town of Somerset.  These districts offer continuing education classes to the public to encourage lifelong learning.  Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, UW River Falls, and several Twin Cities universities are nearby options for advanced degrees or training for specialty occupations. walking

Village parks provide playgrounds, fields, and courts for organized sports or family use. The community ice arena hosts youth hockey during the winter and occasional activities during other seasons.

Local events reflect the spirit and history of this community.  Pea Soup Days hosted by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce is a summer event celebrating our French Canadian heritage.  The Somerset Scholarship Variety Show is a highly entertaining showcase of local talent and humor.  The Apple River Run, and Somerset Library 4 Mile Run encourage families to just "get out" or seriously compete and both feature fantastic prize drawings.
The community with two rivers offers excellent fishing, hunting, tubing.  Public access is available on both the St. Croix and Apple Rivers as well as many of the lakes.  Apple River Water sports and eagle watching are popular pastimes.

Trails and rural roads along the rivers provide scenic cycling and snowmobile routes.  Somerset also offers excellent public golf opportunities on two unique courses.  Bristol Ridge Golf Course is a Par 72 Championship Course with a driving range, pro shop and restaurant.  St.Croix National Golf Club has easy access off of Hwy 35/64.
